ASKING FOR HELP? BE PREPARED TO RECEIVE IT

There have been occasions I have prayed for help. I’ve wanted nothing more than for someone to tell me everything will be fine and for that person to hold my hand while helping me make all the right decisions.  Even Bill Withers said “we all need somebody to lean on.”

Help has revealed itself to me on several occasions as a deafening silence to stand up and help myself.  You want to know where strength comes from? It comes from despair. Strength comes from calling out and receiving no answer. Strength comes from paralyzing fear and hurt feelings. Strength comes from having no choice but to get up and walk out in the light of day. The process does not feel good, but the outcome is absolutely liberating.

Sometimes help arrives, but not in the form desire. Help sometimes comes with the truth. In order to receive help, the truth needs to be acknowledged and dealt with. I know people who have opted to remain stuck than to have to face the truth and handle the accompanying discomfort.   Acknowledging and facing the truth is brief because once the initial discomfort of the ugly truth is received, you have to do something about it. There is no time to wallow in self-pity. However, to consciously decide to not face the truth and unease of change is to be sentenced to a much longer suffering.

Help comes; it always does, but then change is close behind. Some of us do not like change.
Some people prefer the unpleasant state of stagnation to the temporary discomfort of growth. There is no right or wrong; there is simply choice. Everyone has the choice: be something or do something different to change a situation, or expend great amounts of energy resisting change to remain the same.  There was a point in my life when I decided I would welcome discomfort, whenever it presented itself, as an opportunity for growth.  I am often challenged to be kind, loving, forgiving and gracious when I do not want to be. There are times I step up to the challenge, and there are times I fail.  I keep trying, and I keep growing.

The scariest outcome of receiving help is the ultimate price to pay which is being transformed. There are tall tales about people selling their souls, but when examined from a metaphysical point of view, it is true. A desire to be helped out of a situation requires the kind of change that is permanent. No one can remain the same person once his/her life is profoundly affected. There is a shift in soul perspective that has to take place to ascend and evolve. I can ask for $100 which might help me pay a bill; that is not profound change. To create the mindset and habits of a wealthy person, there are certainly spending habits and ideas about money that I will have to eliminate from my life forever in order to experience that kind of transformation.  Whatever the desire is, the willingness to change has to be passionate.

The only thing constant in the universe is change...so let go.

ESCAPE THE BOX

Mental liberation is essential to the evolution of the human species.  The beauty of what we are lies in our ability to create with the power of our minds. It seems there are a small number of individuals who are threatened by a world filled with free-willed people.  So, we are corralled into social media platforms, force-fed lifestyle templates, and programmed to believe we have to live by the rules dictated in society.

Corporations, governments, and religious institutions have created a science out of orchestrating our every movement.  So many people are caught up in the daily grind, trying to survive.  They are blown by the winds and whims of popular opinion, broadcast news, and social media.  A group of my favorite poets called the Watts Prophets recorded a poem years ago titled “Keepin You Doing Things” (https://youtu.be/LmCX80CaCvM).

There are so many environmental pollutants and distractions. If you live in any major city, there is constant noise all around you, all of the time.  Even if you have a get away in the backyard or go to a local park, there is still energy popping off of the electricity lines or cell towers bouncing signals through airways. You could be deaf and still have to encounter the visual assault of billboards and advertisements that are everywhere.  How much stimulation can our human brains take before overload?  I think most of us simply shut down after becoming desensitized to it.  Just because we shut down doesn’t mean the information is shut out.  Our brains are still taking in and processing everything in our environment all the time.

The key is programming your mind, being conscious as often as you can of your environment and what is going on.  Most importantly, downloading all that information by sitting down somewhere in silence.  Yes, I do mean meditate.  There are several methods of meditation, but to reboot your brain you would want to sit in silent meditation for as long as you can. You will surprised at the thoughts and ideas and information that you will observe as you let your mind purge itself of all the junk. It might even be a little scary, but once you let it go, you see how much more clear you will think. You will be able to discern your feelings and thoughts from the millions of ideas floating around in your environment.

Whenever you watch television or a video, you are surrendering your mind to someone else.  Whenever you speak about someone, whether you like them or not, you give them dominion in your world.  Reading is the one activity that you can perform and have full control over what you take in. It’s hard to read something and not judge it. The only people who do not evaluate what they read are people who are programmed to follow and accept what they read as the ultimate truth beyond common sense or logic.

I want to live in a universe inhabited by mentally liberated beings.  People who have mastery over their emotions and reactions are thinking people.  They can tell the difference between their personal issues and the emotional limitations of others.  Mental liberation also looks like critical thinking and always asking why. There is always a reason and a motive for television programming, news items of the day, social media trends and such. We all need to keep our minds on what we can do to realize our potential. No one person is going to be everything or know everything. That’s absurd. As humanity, we have to support each other in becoming our best individual and collective selves. We can no longer afford to invest time or mental energy (conscious or unconscious) into people and ideas that do not serve us as a species.
